Fantasy Hockey 101: These Three Turkeys

They are BACK!!!!
BallHype: hype it up!

Yes the turkeys are back for another week of fun with NHL players. They fly all over the country to find the worst of the worst so you can either avoid them on your fantasy team or just lament that you have these players. This week they have three more for your amusement. Sorry for the simplicity this week….it was rough on the turkeys to come up with three as there was so many good choices. Anyways it is turkey time!

Vincent Lecavalier (F) — Tampa Bay Lightning

This one is real simple. Like we said before. He has six assists and that is nice. But a #1 pick should be average at or over a point a game easy especially in one’s prime. Last I checked the enforcer Todd Fedoruk has more goals. People come to see Lecavalier score on the ice and not off. For that is just TMI! Fantasy owners are waiting impatiently and I even have seen trade offers in leagues for #4. That is an early sign of panic which is true but still…it speaks volumes.

Cristobal Huet (G) — Chicago Blackhawks

Why? Easy! He has only given up less than three goals once this year…ONCE! It is also possible that Antti Niemi may just take the reins for awhile. Huet has not played since the 17th. The 3.25 GAA and .844 save percentage with a .500 record for a team picked by many to maybe even win the Central has people in Chicago freaked out more than the swine flu. I know it won’t happen but a stint in the AHL may be a good idea.

Paul Stastny (F) — Colorado Avalanche

A tough third choice this week. But one point in his last five games is troublesome for a team that will eventually need his goal scoring. By the way he only has one goal this season so far in nine games. Only two of his six points are on the power play as well. The 5% shot percentage (1 goal on 20 shots) does not help at all. He has to get it in gear for Colorado to be able to survive this early season surge especially when those off nights in net come. Hey they happen to everyone. Get it moving Paul or fantasy owners are going to deep six ya!

Next week we will have three more turkeys at your disposal. Beware NHL players…the turkeys are always watching you!!!!!
