Last Friday, the Moncton Wildcats received word highly touted 2010 NHL Draft prospect Krill Kabanov was cleared by the IIHF to suit up for Moncton. It didn’t take long for Kabanov to find the score sheet.
In his debut Saturday night against the Lewiston Maineiacs, he had the game winning goal in the 2-0 victory.
“He’s (Kabanov) is an impact player,” said Lewiston Maineiacs’ head coach Don MacAdam after the game. “It was a pretty nice goal.”
It was also a big night for Moncton’s Draft Eligible draft prospects, Louis Domingue earned the shutout and Brandon Gormley also scored for the Wildcats.
All three expected to go in the first round of the NHL Draft.
On Sunday, Kabanov had a four point night against the Halifax Mooseheads as he had a goal and three assists.
For his efforts on the weekend he fell short of winning the offensive player of the week to his teammate Randy Cameron.
Kabanov is living up to the expectations. He could challenge the Windsor duo in Taylor Hall and Cam Fowler, who both look to go 1-2 in the draft. He needs to fight off Tyler Seguin of the Plymouth Whalers (OHL) who’s making a charge up the draft rankings.
