KHL Salutes Top Players from Week 5
The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) recognizes the top goalie, defender, forward and rookie for the past week. The weekly selections are chosen by the KHL Statistics and Information Bureau and based upon both statistical results and overall performance.
Week 5 honorees are:
- Best goalkeeper: Rastislav Stana (Severstal Cherepovets). Stana registered two wins, including one shutout, to go along with a save percentage of 96 % last week.
- Best defender: Anton Belov (Avangard Omsk). In three matches Belov had two assists and registered a +/- rating of +5.
- Best forward: Mattias Veynhandl (Dynamo Moscow). The Swedish sniper scored three goals and chipped in two assists in three games last week, while also posting a +4 rating.
- Best rookie: Vyacheslav Kulemin (CSKA Moscow). Kulemin played impact minutes for CSKA and notched an assist in each of two games last week.
