The Canucks were dealt some bad news today as Daniel Sedin will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken foot. He and his twin Henrik have been a steady force for Vancouver up front since the lockout. But with Pavol Demitra already out indefinitely with a shoulder injury, some question marks now lie with the Canucks offensively.
1. How will Henrik respond to not having his twin beside him?? The top line’s offensive zone cycling could go by the wayside now. Henrik must find another go-to-guy to team up with.
2. Will the power play take a major hit from this injury?? Yes. Daniel and Henrik are catalysts on the man advantage.
3. Will the loss of Daniel have a domino effect on the offense?? Henrik will have to create more for others, which he’s been good at in the past. Someone like Mikael Samuelsson or Steve Bernier is going to have to step up big-time on that top line.
It’s going to be weird to see Henrik without Daniel. Vancouver is 1-3, coming off a breakthrough 7-1 win over the Habs. This has to be a tough pill to swallow for Alain Vigneault & company. Daniel probably won’t be back until later in November, so the Canucks will have to weather the storm and find a way to keep their heads above water.
