Fantasy Hockey 101: I Screwed Up!

BallHype: hype it up!

There are times where we just admit we screwed up and yesterday was one of those times. Yours truly while trying to get 6 million things done managed to accidentally hit a wire that oh controls the internet connection. I could not figure out what it was until later in the day and yes simply plugged it back in. Much like your fantasy team…sometimes you do something just so stupid but yet are oblivious to it anyway until it is too late. Really it happens more than you think.

To top that off…I forgot I have to get picks in for my priority draft tonight by midnight. The fine folks at On Goal Analysis are running the deal. Big Tex, Colonel, and Frozen Pill (Yes he took Vanek in the first round) had a great time Sunday with the live Round 1 picks. Do remember to go on their page and let FP know about the Vanek pick. We want to make sure that he never ever lives that pick down. Insert awkward internet podcast silence here then laughter.

So what is a priority draft you may ask? Well most offer a live first round or first several rounds and then the rest is a free for all in a sense. You put your wishlist together by who you want. Place it in the order that you want and then send it away. After that you are pretty much at the mercy of whoever is running the show so to speak. Hopefully you guessed right and early on a few players because that is the key to getting who you want. Even then, other people may have the same obvious strategy.

After that, you usually get emailed the results of your team or it is posted on a fantasy hockey site. Like an expectant parent, you wait with agony to see what your team looks like. By the end of the week, I should know. Say a prayer for me on this. I have not done one in a few years and the last time I ended up with Peter Forsberg who got hurt midway into the season and never came back. That one hurt!

I am actually compiling the list now. Like I said we will see what happens with it. Next week we will be into the fantasy season at long last and yes the column will be on Monday as scheduled. If you wonder why I start drinking a little more during hockey season…it is because fantasy hockey will do that to you. It is just a little bit addictive. Remember just two more days and it COUNTS!!!!

Sincerely,
