Offseason Boulderdash!

BallHype: hype it up!

Sadly this is the last week for Offseason Boulderdash. That is because next week the regular season actually starts. It has been a fun run throughout the summer but with Fall here…this column just has no relevance. Moving on…..

Ray Emery is expected to play the whole game tonight. Yes they are playing the same Detroit team that dropped a tough decision to the Rangers last night. By the way, Sean Avery’s sprained knee is getting tested and no word if he is giving the med techs fashion advice. This is the time of year where injuries ramp up a bit towards the season….some for roster purposes but most are not.

By the Pascal Morency got the full ten games from the NHL. The guy will likely never play in the NHL (for the Isles anyway). But yet the get tough message was sent anyhow. I know rules are rules but still. Morency has already sat out the first 2 games….there is 3 more preseason games and then there is 5 regular season games. Then the NHL wonders why it has so many problems. This could be one of the reasons why perhaps.

So how many Russians are going to play in the Olympics in 2014? Probably all of them at this point. Add Evgeni Malkin’s name to the list. Thanks to Dmitri Chesnokov from Puck Daddy for the tip as always. It was quite the interesting interview that has been read and commented on many times I am sure. Just do not mention Varlamov ever…..just kidding.

There is only one perfect way to close this column out and that is the obligatory Dany Heatley report. For all the people he drove to drink since the end of the season…it is only fair. By the way Heatley had no points last night in a 3-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. It seems nothing has changed from the playoffs. Okay it is only preseason. Now the feature presentation of this post….enjoy and laugh away unless you are Mr. Heatley.
