Welcome to the hard hitting roundup that pulls no punches….time to delve into the schedule tonight…with 4 games…..but there is a twist…a special metro area trifecta with a possible first eliminated team from the quest. Let’s get to it!!!
Metro Game #1……..
Buffalo Sabres @ New York Islanders 7:30pm EDT VS,TSN
Smyth can’t be a one man band tonight………
When Ryan Smyth scored that goal to make it 3-2 Buffalo in the waning seconds of the second period Monday night….many including Buffalo fans expected a third period of pure survival. Someone forgot to tell the Isles that Buffalo wanted to press the issue. With a 17 shot barrage in the third period…Buffalo showed a grit that not many expected but then again these are the Sabres. The Isles never had a chance to take it to them…and that can’t happen tonite or they will go down 3-1 to a team that doesn’t screw around. Dipietro has delivered for the Isles but now its time for the whole team to come out and play. Will they or will the Sabres go home to Buffalo with a chance to clinch Friday night? The only way you can find out the latest updates is on the GDT.
Metro Game 2…….
New Jersey Devils @ Tampa Bay Lightning 7pm EDT CBC,RDS
Alarm clock needed?????????
Well it has come down to this…..a few bad breaks for the Devils and they are in a 2-1 hole that not many saw coming. There is no time to feel sorry for oneself because Tampa will make that 3 foot grave a 6 foot one in no time flat. The trio of Lecavlier, St. Louis, and Richards is killing the Devils and the Madden-Pandolfo combo has done little to combat it. Oddly enough…the two defensive forwards who may be up for the Selke have played little like their regular season form. As a result…it may be time to split them up…light a fire so to speak. For Tampa…it is just ride the wave of Holmqvist who has been a hot goalie the last two games…thwarting numerous Devil chances. When will Clarkson come up? Will Brodeur ever show up? The answers to all these questions may be found out tonite only on the GDT.
Finally….Metro Game 3
Atlanta Thrashers @ New York Rangers 7pm EDT TSN
It could be a Garden Party tonite if the Rangers win…
Pardon the Rangers if they look over to the Atlanta side and have some not so good memories tonight of last year. However, that won’t last very long as the Rangers try to sweep the Thrashers out of the playoffs. How bad has it become for the Thrashers…so bad that Ilya Kovalchuk was thrown out of last nite’s game. That is all that needs to be said on the Thrashers behalf after the Rangers first line erupted and the second line kept coming in a 7-0 rout of Atlanta. Expect Atlanta to start playoff proven Johan Hedberg tonight against Henrik Lundqvist who has been outstanding against Atlanta. Hossa and Kozlov are still pointless for the series…and if that continues….the Rangers will be the first team to advance. Will they? Find out tonite on the GDT.
Don’t worry in Nashville and San Jose…we have your game covered….come on down to The NHL Arena for the latest.
