Playoff Hockey Roundup — 4/17
My 3 Games Of The Night
Atlanta Thrashers @ New York Rangers 7pm EDT TSN
Any more Rangers celebrating may mean curtains in Game 3 for Atlanta.
Game 3 will be the big one tonight…..this is a must win for Atlanta if they have any hope in coming back in this series. The Rangers really haven’t outplayed the Thrashers per se…but what they have done is take advantage of opportunities. The Avery fluky bounce….the Thrashers overagressiveness in Game 1…the Rangers have found ways to win and the Thrashers have found ways to lose. Ilya Kovalchuk and company have their work cut out for them as the Rangers will be looking to win their first home playoff game in 10 years. What will happen…come check it out on the GDT.
Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins 7pm EDT VS, CBC
The towels will be waved for the Pens tonite…will it mean a win??
The Pens are only down 2-1….they did split in Ottawa so tonight becomes important only because they need to play 60 minutes of hockey more than anything else…something they haven’t done in any game this series. So far the goalies have survived…neither has played particularly outstanding but both have shown flashes of brilliance which usually makes a difference in a fast paced series like this. The key for Ottawa will be…how will Heatley’s injury ultimately impact his ability to make plays and for Pittsburgh it will be can Crosby carry them on his back because he may have to by example for the Pens to win tonite. For all the action and all the commentary….it will all be on the good old GDT.
Anaheim Ducks @ Minnesota Wild 9pm EDT TSN
Backstrom and the Wild can’t afford any more screwups.
FIGHT TO THE END! That is the Wild motto for tonight. The Wild have the tools to win this series but with three 1 goal losses are just one step away from being eliminated. Brian Rolston has vanished….the team’s point leader has gone ice cold this series….culminating with game 3’s fourth line like ice time in the second and third period. Lemaire has done everything to shake things up but Carlyle has played his team steady. The Ducks have matched everything the Wild can do..and done it just a hair better…can the Wild combat that tonight?? Will Gaborik, Demitra, and Rolston leave the Excel Centre rockin or will it be the end? Find out tonite on the GDT.
For all the rest of the great banter and commentary with some occasional trash talking…..The NHL Arena is the place to be.
