The Pittsburgh Penguins And Their Fans Cause Fire On And Off The Ice

The unofficial, “darlings of the NHL”, the Pittsburgh Penguins, are most definitely making such huge impacts on many these days ranging from teams in the NHL, to certain players and even the fans all around the NHL. I mean who could blame you for thinking such things? For one, the Penguins have the dynamic duo of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. The nineteen year-old phenomenon, Sidney Crosby, leads the NHL with sixty eight points and is going strong throughout the rest of the Penguins season. Also Crosby led the 2007 All-Star voting with the help of his many adoring fans and will start in Dallas for the game. The twenty year old Russian rocket, Evgeni Malkin, who leads all rookies in points currently, is a total plus to have on the Penguins roster and is a fan favorite here in the city of Pittsburgh.

But currently, there have been many ugly rumors and assumptions floating around here in Pittsburgh of Mario Lemieux selling the team to a potential buyer even though the Pens are currently stationed here within Pittsburgh. Rumors of a move began since the Pittsburgh favorite; the Isle of Capri slot license was rejected. Many feel that the performance of the Penguins now, will not really matter to the people of Pittsburgh in the near future with thoughts of moving the Penguins. Well I can tell you one thing. People who think that way, are totally and utterly wrong. No other fans in the NHL compare to those loyal to the Pittsburgh Penguins. I witness first hand everyday, living in Pittsburgh that this city is in fact a football town. The Steelers, win or loose, will always be loved and adored. So it is very depressing to me to hear people say that they would care less if the Penguins left or not. I have heard from friends and even my own family that they have their Steelers and that’s all that matters to them.

But oh no, do not ever underestimate the thousands and thousands of loyal Penguin fans that have been protesting and show their support of the Penguins night after night with lines of people that wrap all the way around the igloo. Thousand of Penguin fans have been arriving to the Mellon Arena just to experience the evolution with an average attendance of 15,804 fans per game last year and numerous sell out games this year. I know that the battle to keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh is not going to be easy and it is not going to be something that is taken care of in a matter of days.

Just to be one of the loyal fans today and to be able to see many more like myself, standing in the cold for hours just to see a game or to be apart of a huge protest and spread the word on how important this team is to the Penguin fans of Pittsburgh, it is totally and utterly unreal. And also to also see the mass support of fans around the NHL is thrilling to witness because the Penguins belong in Pittsburgh and the NHL would not be the same without them. I can truly say that the many loyal fans here in Pittsburgh are absolutely magnificent and trust me I would not have it any other way. We cannot do this on our own and the more support we have behind us is only going to help to keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh. If you are thinking we are backing down anytime soon, well I can tell you this… You’re dead wrong. –
Lets Go Pens!
