BREAKING NEWS…………..
Julien led the Devils to a 47-24-8 record before being fired this morning.
Soooo….just when you thought it was safe to be a coach with a team well over .500…..think again!! Proving that winning isn’t the cureall for everything…Claude Julien was fired this morning as New Jersey Devils Head Coach.
HEY WE MADE ESPN NEWS!!!! LOL
Seriously…Sherry Ross from the NY Daily News was on there….and she alluded to the fact that many Devils are way off their normal point totals that Julien was offensively stifling to many players.
Rich Chere from The Star Ledger said basically the same thing along with EJ Hradek of espn.com. Here is the twist….supposedly according to a few bloggers….this came down to player chemistry with the coach and there was a widening disconnect.
Yesterday was very evident of that….offensive confidence was not there. The Devils should have won 5 or 6-1 at least….and it just didn’t happen. Though I do question the timing…I don’t question the decision even if this has a little Steinbrenner like quality to it.
In the coming days, weeks, and months…speculation will grow on whether Pat Burns who is doing quite well, will coach the team next season. For now, stay tuned….As The Devil Turns and there is never a dull moment.
