Well a rarity…..its a tie.
Pittsburgh Penguins @ New York Islanders 7:30 EDT FSNY, FSPI
The Penguins come calling tonight to the NVMC to battle the Isles in a crucial meeting. The last meeting saw Pittsburgh’s point streak wash away as the Isles pulled out a 6-5 win in regulation. Pittsburgh is seeking revenge though Sidney Crosby has to think this is one of his favorite road venues afterall he does have 17 points in 6 games this season against the Isles…and 31 points in 14 career games. Expect a high scoring game tonight….why..you may ask? Rick Dipietro is 4-1 against the Penguins in five career home starts but even his GAA is at 3.35 in those starts. Both teams seem to bring out the best in each other’s offenses so don’t expect a lot of good fundamental defense. It’s not going to happen here. The Devils come into Tampa losers of their last two games and 3-4-2 for the month of March…..funny thing is….so is Tampa. One is fighting for their lives for the 2 seed and the other is fighting for their playoff lives period. The last time the Devils played in Tampa….Brodeur notched a masterful shutout as the Devils won 2-0 but neither team has won a home game yet this season. The Bolts come in relatively healthy while the Devils are missing three key components….Elias, Madden, and Gionta.
