It has been a while but now it is time to bring back “This Day In Playoff History” for Monday, April 23rd. This being a special day we decided to package several moments into one for the first day of the week. These always have a playoff theme from now until the middle of June so do not expect anything less. Again, we wanted to thank our friends that do a little sports betting, so go check them out. April 23, 1990
Capitals’ John Druce scored twice and added two assists to lead Washington to a 7-1 win against the visiting NY Rangers, in Game 3 of the Patrick Division Finals. Druce had scored a hat trick in the previous game.
April 23, 1994
Tony Amonte scored four goals to lead the Blackhawks to a 5-4 win over the Maple Leafs in Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals, in Chicago. Amonte became the second player in Blackhawks’ history to score 4 goals in playoff game.
April 23, 2000
Scott Young scored his first career playoff hat trick and rookie Jochen Hecht had a goal and three assists in the Blues 6-2 win at San Jose, in Game 6 of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals.
April 23, 2002
Brent Johnson became the first goaltender in NHL history to earn shutouts in his first three career playoff victories as the Blues won 1-0 against the Blackhawks at Chicago, in Game 4 of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals.
