This Day In Hockey History (12/12)

Today we pay tribute to a man who did something today that so many NHL players dream about doing.  Monday is a relatively slow day in the hockey world normally (except when coaches are getting fired).  So, we spanned back to 40 years ago today for our moment.  It was a time where the milestone below was an extremely rare accomplishment.  Today it is a little more commonplace.  Say hello to Bobby Hull with a little video first and then today’s moment in history from 1971.

 

 

December 12, 1971


Chicago’s Bobby Hull became the fifth player in NHL history to score 1,000 career points. His milestone point was an assist in his 909th game, a 5-3 Black Hawks’ win over the Minnesota North Stars.

December 12, 1981


Harold Snepsts was assessed 12 penalty minutes to become the first Canucks’ player to accumulate 1,000 career PIM, when Vancouver lost 7-5 at Los Angeles.
