So the Vancouver Canucks could win the Stanley Cup tonight in Game 6. The game is in Boston where Vancouver has given up 12 goals against Boston and has only scored once. However, this “home series” seems to have a twist left in it according to some. Either way, Boston has to regain its ability to finish scoring chances which it did not do in Game 5. Oddly enough, the Bruins have had one period in Vancouver where they played well and that was it. The Canucks are due kind of the same thing, one would think at least.
Will the real Vancouver Canucks show up tonight? At some point one would think they would have to considering that Henrik Sedin has no points in the series and Daniel Sedin only has two. Alex Burrows has that three point game in Game 2 and little else. Roberto Luongo has been horrendous on the road. One would think that they are losing this series. Yet they are one win from taking home the Stanley Cup.
This series truly is a case of first team that figures out how to succeed on the road or does it? Tonight may be Vancouver’s best road effort of the series because it has to be. The nerves of a Game 7 are nerves that no team really wants to take on, especially for all the marbles. Fantasy wise another game would be awesome but tell that to the offenses because in Vancouver, they both have almost been nonexistent except for a brief flash and then it was gone in an instant.
By the way, David Krejci has led scoring with five points and is far from being on Milk Carton Island unlike the Sedin Twins. For as many goals as Boston has scored, the points have been well spread around. Even Rich Peverley, Brad Marchand, and Mark Recchi have multiple points but they do not have five. This is just how it has worked in the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.

Fancy statistics and trends will not get it done tonight for either team. Hard work will however. This is something neither team has realized on the road and all signs point toward another home win on this Monday evening. However, the fact that the Stanley Cup will be in the building will put some added pressure on both teams. Who knows how either team will react to it? Will they be tense? Will they crumble? The funny thing is the sims do not lie. They never do.
What do we have for the sims? Well we went six sims deep in honor of Game 6. As always, all sims come from NHL11 played on the XBox.

Yes this is a simple one but effective. There just seems to be the feeling that this will be a low scoring game in Boston tonight as the nerves will ramp up considerably. The wild card tonight could very well be Rich Peverley. In two of our sims, Peverley had at least two goals and in one he had two goals and an assist. A Vancouver player to watch would be Manny Malhotra who has been close a few times to scoring and in two of our sims, he scored a goal. So hey one never ever knows.
