Sims of death time already? Well not really.  The nice part of the summer is we can preview the potential Sims Of Death candidates for the 2010-11 season.  We have some obvious picks here and will add a few more as the regular season approaches.  Call this a Part One or even appetizer.  Here are the ones we have so far.

1st STAR: Detroit Red Wings @ Chicago Blackhawks  Oct. 9th, 2010

The banner raising is kind of obvious and its two Original Six teams…I mean come on!  “Chelsea Dagger” will be played many times I am sure and the crowd will be at a nutso level almost like it was Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final.  These two always team up for some goals and I fully expect a good high scoring deal here with Chicago likely winning by one or two goals.  Obviously we cannot name the three stars yet….its a bit early for that.

2nd STAR: Washington Capitals @ Pittsburgh Penguins  Jan. 1st, 2011

The outdoor classic comes to Heinz Field.  Gee Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin and so many more subplots.  Though some of us think this is overkill and unfair to some of the other teams in the league.  One has to admit that this will build the momentum of buzz at the very least.  This game will be high scoring like the Detroit-Chicago Winter Classic and that is a guarantee.  One thing to be said about any of these clashes is that there will be hitting, scoring, and occasional brilliant goaltending with some unexpected twists.  That is generally how they always go.

3rd STAR:  Montreal Canadiens @ Calgary Flames  Feb. 20th, 2011

Some think this should be higher and it would be if not for the first and second star.  However, the real appeal of this Heritage Classic involves one of my favorite elements in any hockey game — THE COLD.  You will see the toques and you will see players trying to stay warm, playing like its the old days.  The goaltenders should be the warmest as always.  I think they steal the show in this one but still expect lots of end to end action.  I hear Miikka Kiprusoff will be a star in this one for sure.  This will be a ton of fun type of game and oddly enough a great way to cap off the Hockey Weekend In America?  Odd yet true.

Any games you want to see sim’d once the FA Frenzy cools down or ones you want to see anyway…..comment and tweet away by all means!
