Let’s go Camping

I have a jump in my step when I woke up this morning. It wasn’t because my summer job ended on Friday but Maineiacs open training camp on Wednesday. What can get any better then hockey in August. I am also exited that I will have two weeks of hockey before I head back up to school. Last year when it was my first full year covering the team, training camp opened the last weekend of August. I only saw two days of the training camp before heading up to school.

Today the Saint John Sea Dogs opened camp and they already have had a couple practices. They will have a scrimmage later on tonight. Most teams either start on Tuesday or Wednesday. The Quebec Remparts also opened camp today. Just like the Sea Dogs, the Remparts are one of favorites in the QMJHL this season.

The OHL and the WHL camps don’t open until next week.

Obvious USA has their Olympic camp this week in Chicago.

When major junior camps open, that means NHL camps are around the corner. When the major junior regular season begins, that means NHL camps are beginning. I know most of you are as hockey deprived as I am but the season is around corner.

That’s My Take

About Chris Wassel

Simply I am a hockey writer who is a jack of all trades. Whether it is draft, fantasy, NHL, KHL, AHL, etc...I probably can write about it. The challenge in hockey is to be able to step out of your comfort zone and write like you are still there. Hopefully you enjoy the humor in the writing on the site and tell your friends. Thanks for reading!
