The Fab 4

BallHype: hype it up!

Well this would be the Mel Brooks version of the Fab 4. Yes that short short version but yet highlighting the best players of last night. So time to get this thing started!!!!

4th cider — Minnesota Wild PP Unit

We had fun with this folks….but seriously 5 power play goals gets you a team honor on here. Sure it is rare but how often do you see a team get a 5 on 3 and convert on both ends of it. The Wild man advantage was smoking last night and even when they did not score…they put a ton of pressure on Nashville. Poor Pekka Rinne….I felt pity for him last night in net for the Preds.

3rd cider — Steve Mason (G) — CBJ

All Mason did was stop the Capitals cold. He turned away all 26 Caps shot in a 3-0 shutout win. It almost makes me wonder if Pascal Leclaire will ever get a chance to regain his form. Mason has been a big part in the turn around of Columbus and if he keeps playing like this…you have to keep playing him. Of course stopping Ovechkin on several great chances does help your stock rise as well.

2nd cider — Manny Fernandez (G) — Bruins

He was great last night against Detroit and many did not expect him to get the start but he did. 29 saves on 30 shots will get you first star in Beantown especially against the defending champs. Granted Detroit did not have Tomas Holmstrom in the lineup but Fernandez held his ground nonetheless. Anytime you hold Detroit to one goal or less, your goalie had to play great and last night was no exception. Great job by Fernandez and the B’s and that is why Boston leads the East.

1st cider — Sidney Crosby (C) — Penguins

He had a four point night with a hat trick. Now the 1st and 3rd goals were stoppable but still they were great plays by Crosby. Crosby did what he had to do and well Scott Clemmensen is an AHL goalie and it showed. Great players find a way to get it done and the Pens did not want a 2 game losing streak as Crosby pretty much did whatever he wanted to do last night. That is why Crosby gets the first cider!!!

Hockey is about to start folks so enjoy the afternoon or late morning puck depending on your time zone!!!
